610 Stainless Equipment Stand with Splashback

4.7 out of 5 · Manufacturer rating from 1,144 reviews
AU $189inc. GSTIn stock

A low, square stainless stand made to carry one heavy appliance. At 660 mm to the top it puts the bowl of a floor mixer, the door of a countertop oven or the hopper of a grinder at a comfortable working height, and a 50 mm lip on three sides stops the machine creeping off the back. The lower shelf sets at three heights for the attachments and bowls that go with it.

Setting up

Assembly required; instructions are included. The maker says to wear gloves during assembly, as the sheet edges are sharp until it is together. Set the shelf height before you tighten the screws.

The right height for the heavy thing.

A mixer on a full-height bench has its bowl at your chest. On this stand it is at your hands, where it belongs.

It is a square stainless bench cut down to 660 mm, which is the height at which a floor mixer's bowl, a countertop pizza oven's deck or a grinder's hopper ends up level with a normal bench top. A 50 mm splashback runs around three sides of the top, so a machine that walks under load meets a lip before it meets the floor, and flour and splashes stay on the stand rather than the wall behind it.

The lower shelf screws in at three heights and takes the bowls, hooks and trays that live with the machine. Top, shelf and legs are 0.8 mm stainless. It weighs 11.4 kg.

Goes with.

What this usually leaves the warehouse with.

Close view of the folded 50 mm splashback at the back corner of the top

A lip on three sides.

The top has a 50 mm upstand at the back and both ends. It catches a mixer that shuffles under a stiff dough, keeps a grinder's tray from sliding off the back, and stops flour reaching the wall. The front edge is open, so nothing snags when you slide a bowl on or off.

  • 50 mm splashback on back and both ends
  • Open front edge
  • Keeps walking appliances on the stand

Sixty-six centimetres, on purpose.

Most benches are 850 to 900 mm high. Put a 685 mm tall planetary mixer on one and the top of its head is close to 1.6 metres up. On this stand it is about 1.35 metres, which is where you can see into the bowl, scrape it down and lift it out without reaching. The same logic holds for a pizza oven door or a slicer carriage: lower is easier to work and safer to lift.

  • 660 mm to the top
  • Bowl of a floor mixer lands at bench height
  • Lower shelf for bowls, hooks and trays
The stand carrying a meat grinder in a home garage

One stand, four sizes.

The 610 square takes a planetary mixer, a spiral mixer, a meat grinder or a single-deck oven. The 710 by 610 suits a larger mixer with the timer on the side. The 910 and 1220 by 760 versions are long enough for two machines side by side, or a double-deck pizza oven with room to land a peel. All four share the same height, splashback and shelf.

  • 610, 710, 910 and 1220 mm lengths
  • Same 660 mm height across the range
  • Castors optional for a stand that moves

All four share the 660 mm height, the three-sided splashback and the adjustable shelf. Measure the footprint of the machine you are putting on it, then add 50 mm each way for the lip.

Questions we get asked

Will a 14 L planetary mixer fit on it?

Yes. That mixer is 467 by 406 mm at the base and 48 kg, and it sits inside the lip with room to spare.

Is it strong enough for a mixer?

The top, shelf and legs are 0.8 mm stainless, the same as the full-size benches in the range, and a mixer's weight sits directly over the legs on a stand this small. Make sure all four feet sit flat so they share the load.

Can I put it on wheels?

Yes. Locking castors are an option at checkout in place of the bullet feet. Lock all four before you run a mixer on it.

Does the splashback come off?

No. It is part of the top. If you want a flat top, the mobile work table in the range has one.

How do I look after it?

Warm water and a mild detergent, wiped along the grain, then dried. Keep chlorine cleaners and steel wool off it. Check the shelf screws after the first week of use.
