A stainless steel dehydrator with ten 304 stainless trays, each 377 × 285 mm and rated to 0.77 kg of food. The digital panel sets temperature from 30 to 90 °C and a timer from half an hour to 48 hours. A rear fan moves air around all ten trays without rotating them, and an interior light lets you check progress through the door.

Nothing to assemble. Wash the ten trays and the silicone sheets in warm soapy water or the dishwasher, slide them back into their runners and leave the machine to run empty at a middling temperature for half an hour with a window open, which clears the smell of a new element. Then set your time and temperature on the panel and load it.
A stainless cabinet that dries a whole tree's worth of apricots, or the jerky for a long drive, while you sleep.
Ten stainless trays, each 377 × 285 mm, slide into runners in a 201 stainless cabinet. Every tray takes up to 0.77 kg of food, so a full load is a little over seven kilos in one run, and together the trays give a bit over a square metre of drying space. The trays are 304 stainless, BPA free, and go in the dishwasher when you are done.
The fan sits at the back and pushes air around all ten trays, so nothing needs turning or rotating part way through. The panel sets the temperature anywhere from 30 to 90 °C and the timer runs from half an hour to 48 hours, then shuts the machine off on its own. A light inside means you can see how the top tray is going without opening the door.
What this usually leaves the warehouse with.

The panel takes a temperature between 30 and 90 °C and a time between half an hour and 48 hours, and then it is your machine's problem rather than yours. When the timer runs out it stops. If anything runs hot it cuts back, cools itself and shuts down. Most fruit goes on after dinner and comes off at breakfast, which is why ten trays is not as many as it sounds.

The fan is mounted at the back of the cabinet rather than the base, so the air moves horizontally across every tray at the same time. The tray at the top dries at much the same rate as the tray at the bottom, and you are not swapping them around at midnight. A light inside the cabinet shows you how things are going through the door, with the heat staying where it belongs.

Ten trays is the right size for a household that gets given a box of apricots or mangoes and has to deal with them. It handles herbs from the garden, tomatoes, apple rings, fruit leather on the silicone sheets, mushrooms, jerky, and dog treats made from whatever the butcher had. The trays are dishwasher safe, which is what makes you willing to do it again next weekend.
Tray loading is the manufacturer's figure. Drying times depend on what you are drying and how thick you slice it, which is what the 48 hour timer is there for.
Both versions use the same stainless cabinet, the same ten trays and the same panel; only the element differs, and the 1000 W brings the cabinet up to temperature faster. The 800 W is the dearer of the two at the moment, which is a quirk of supply rather than a difference in the machine.

Nothing to assemble. Wash the trays and sheets before the first run.
Ten trays, each 377 × 285 mm and rated to 0.77 kg, so a little over seven kilos of sliced food in one run and around a square metre of drying space. Leave a gap between pieces on each tray; food that touches dries unevenly and takes longer.
The panel runs from 30 to 90 °C. Herbs and flowers sit at the bottom of the range, fruit and vegetables in the middle, and meat at the top. The recipe sheets in the box give starting points. Slice thickness makes as much difference as temperature, so keep pieces even.
Yes. The trays are 304 stainless and BPA free, and they are dishwasher safe. The silicone sheets wash the same way. Wipe the cabinet out with a damp cloth rather than putting water through it, and let everything dry before it goes back in.
It does. Set the timer anywhere between half an hour and 48 hours and the machine stops when it gets there. It also has overheat protection with automatic cooling and shutdown, which is what makes people comfortable leaving it running overnight.
You can, as long as they want a similar temperature. What travels is flavour, not heat, so keep onion and garlic away from fruit unless you want apricots that taste of them. Herbs are the worst offenders. A batch at a time is simplest.
